Now, as promised, the Rhino/Razorback conversion. This is something I've wanted to do for a while, but with the Eldar fiasco and some other happenings I hadn't ever gotten around to buying a Razorback. So here we go.

Hunter Killer Missile Mania!
It's been a while. I've been very busy with non-40k thingies. But, I'm back on board and to get the ball rolling I'll talk about Hunter Killer Missles. HKMs are my favorite filler for spare points. A little pricey for 1 shot per game in my opinion, but I love the unlimited distance and such a powerful shot coming from a rhino. Anywho, my point is it's filler for me and that means sometimes I bring it and sometimes I don't. The common solution on this blog for that is... *drum roll* magnets!
Without using the arm joint for the launcher itself, I found the cavity for that joint is the perfect fit for the lovely 1/16" by 1/32" discs which fits like so:

Fortress of Win
I walked into my local gaming store very intent on buying a Razorback so I could try my hand at a Rhino/Razorback magnet conversion. After selecting my item and browsing a smidgen I notice a display item near the Apocalypse section I usually end up ignoring. A Black Friday left-over; Fortress of Redemption for 25% off. Only 2 of these left.
Needless to say, no Razorback walkthrough for a bit, people. I'll be attempting to put this thing together before our game night tomorrow. Pics will surely follow.

Twisty Ties! Weeee!
No clever titles this time, it's 4am. This short installment is going to be about a little trick I use when gluing pewter models, as I'm a very impatient person. Holding a model while its glue dries puts me in as much pain as sitting through the movie White Noise. My solution to this problem? Twisty ties! Anytime I buy some new technology I save the twisty ties and tiny rubber bands that hold the cords. So while I'm putting pewter models together I don't have to hold them while they dry:
Oh, and Vanguard Veteran Squad FTW!

Adios Eldar
After our weekly game night, I've decided to sell off my Eldar army. I've debated the idea for quite a while. My army setup isn't set up to win any tourneys, I don't have a Seer Council or a lot of mech. I just kept buying 1 of everything. I win some and lose some, but the reason I've been dancing around the idea of getting rid of them is simply a matter stats and playstyle.
I started writing out the details to my reasoning for disliking the Eldar, but I can't really imagine anyone who reads this will care. So let me get to the point.
After giving friends a few days, I'm now offering the army up to the blog community. If I don't get any offers within the next week (I'll say until Dec 1st,) it's going up on eBay. My army is great for a start army and comes out to 1650 points without upgrades and ~2100 points with realistic upgrades.

Black Reach-ing for the Stars!
Anyone tired of my lame titles, yet? Yeah, me either. This is an update from a previous post about me painting my Ultramarine army. Well, I finished my set of Black Reach Terminators, and I don't think they look too terrible:
This is my first painting of 40k models, so keep the criticism gentle. I used the primer and quickshade I mentioned before. I also tossed on some anti-shine matt varnish from The Army Painter.

It Should Have Been Me!!!
I'm here to ramble about an amazing, yet simple, idea that... well, honestly, I should have thought of. I'll let the article do the talking:

Transport them all in a medium toolbox with drawers, awesome.
Short post today, work is so busy these days.. 'til next time!

Eldrad on the Runway
Hello hello. This is something I wanted to post once finished, but I'm too eager to share. Eldrad, the Farseer of Farseers is one of my favorite characters in the fluff of 40k. And even though he's not alive; one of my favorite models to field. To this, I felt I owed the model something special before I even ordered it. I really couldn't figure out what I wanted to do, exactly, until I got him on order from my local Table Top store.
Now, like you, I typically hate those damn pewter models with all the "silly string" left on them that I have to clip and shave off.

If Someone Could Turn on that Light, I Can't Seer
Greetings, hello and other words. Today, I need YOUR help. No, not you, you. The other guy, to the left. No, my left. Yeah, him. Or her, I can't tell. Today I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to on this big thingy called the intarwebz.
Everywhere I go I see mention of this unit for Eldar that is a very powerful option. But, I can't find its make-up or rules anywhere in my codex. The name is Seer Council, somehow allowing me to bring Eldrad, 3 Farseers and 5 Warlocks. More Farseers would be just dandy to me, but this seems like cheating or like playing Space Wolves (same thing.)

My Must-Have Units
Hello and welcome back. Today I have something in no way related to modeling or magnets, I promise. Today I'm going to discuss my must-have unit for both of my armies. This will be the unit I can't help but take. Sometimes working my armies around this unit just so they can come.
My first army that I bought was the Ultramarines, so I'll start with them.

Magnetize Your Hoveration..ism...ocity..
Three posts in 1 day? Yes, I'm that bored.
Still can't find my USB cable, so I've re-shot my Hover tank conversion and support. First, we'll look at the Wave Serpent and its turret on top. This thing, if left as GW instructions advise, will annoy someone to the point of them creating a religion, gaining the trust of a large portion of high school graduates and convincing them to commit mass suicide along his/her side. And that's just a waste of time... Instead, let's find a quick solution to this nice looking turret.

It's Loc-Tite, Dawg!
I realized during my last post that every time I tell my readers to glue something, I'm making a very vague statement. Glue isn't just glue. Some glues really suck for plastics, while some are great! Some can't hold metal to metal for the life of them, some hang on and never let go. As an avid model builder for years, I've been through my fair share of glues. And I want to make 1 thing very clear to everyone out there, there is one glue that beats every other glue out there for 40k.
Some guy who is wrong - "But Lantz, I have this glue and I'm pretty sure it's the best."
Lantz - "You're wrong, some guy who is wrong."

This Old Drop Pod
*In the voice of Norm Abram* Oh, hello there. Today I'm going to show you a quick solution to those nasty old Drop Pod doors that just won't seem to stay shut. Now, if you're like me, you'd like just 15mins alone with the designer of this model, in a soundproof room more than anything else. But, with today's society, restraining orders make those types of dreams difficult to attain. Instead, here's a non-violent direction to take: Magnets.
Applying the magnets to the top of the doors is difficult in 2 ways; First, there's no flat surface on the door that is parallel to the engine at the top of the Drop Pod. Second, as with most every Drop Pod I see, no one can ever get their doors to fully close. So getting magnets strong enough to make good enough pull is difficult if you don't want it too look silly.

Destroy All Fire Prisms!... Free Soda For All Fire Prisms!
I've done a tiny rant on the Fire Prism in a previous post. In the 3 games I rolled with one it either lost its Prism or got blown to smithereens on the first turn. And when it did fire, it always wiffed. Both scenarios are just luck based, but I'm allowed to bitch and moan if I want to. So I did. A lot. Like, a lot a lot. I've gotten hate mail, people. Anywho, my bitching might be over starting today:

Choices with Assaulting and Avenging
The magnets are back, this time using the teeny tiny 1/16" by 1/32" discs. These ridiculously small magnets are well built for giving the smaller plastic miniatures the options you'd like to give them rather than having to buy multiple models or taking apart and re-gluing them.
My prime example: Eldar Dire Avenger Exarch. This dude gets 4 sets of options for weapons, and while I never saw the point in not bringing a Shimmer Shield (*jazz hands*), my bits box is getting pretty bloated these days and I'm doing all I can to fight the constant stream of plastic nick-nacks flowing into it. So, here's what the Exarch has for toys other than the Avenger Shuriken Catapult - 2x Avenger Shuriken Catapult, Diresword/Shuriken Pistol or Power Weapon/Shimmershield:

SMs Feelin' Smurftastic!
I've done it. I've scrubbed an ugly idea away and am starting anew. What am I talking about? A new paint job, of course. What paint job am I going to go for? Ultramarines. Why? Christ you're pushy... It's because of Calgar, and my non-homoerotic love for him.
What's a Calgar and why is he so smexy? Many reasons. Well, let's take a look:

Clowns, Castration and Goodie Bags
I just want to start off by saying that since I purchased my first Eldar unit about 2 months ago, I've had issues controlling the Eldar correctly in combat. I was getting extremely frustrated with how little I was contributing to team games and how quickly I'd find myself with little hope during solo-play. But, today I report my first victory with them, wishing I had a BatRep to go along with it. Sadly, I do not. But I will try and provide a briefing of the game.
This was a team battle; Tau/Eldar vs IG/Chaos (don't ask me how Chaos persuaded IG to join them for the day, I hear they're offering goodie bags.) Capture and Control, 2000 points per team.
I held my 10 Pathfinders in a corner, being a ruined building. Behind them, 10 Guardians with a Bright Lance and a Farseer with Guide to make it twin linked. My Tau partner left his Crisis Suit, Stealth Suit Squad and Hammerhead with me as well.

I F***ed Up
Why yes, yes you did. You thought that paint scheme idea you had last Saturday night was going to look pretty neato after 5 gin and tonics. But, let me tell you, orange and pink is not a good selection for chaos. So now we have a whole lot of models that are painted like a Picasso masterpiece. What to do, now? Well, later you'll want to take a look at some of the masterpieces Eric has painted up over at The Midnight Shift and learn a few things from him. But, first, we'll want to get rid of the paint "job" you've created for yourself. It is by no means something new and original, but I'm surprised by how many people on the intarwebz don't know about this:

The Poor Man's Sniper Squad
Welcome back! This time I've got another example of how to save money with your Space Marines. This time, I needed to turn a team of 5 Snipers and 5 Scouts into 10 Snipers. Because, honestly, who the hell brings scouts without sniper rifles? Don't answer that. This idea comes to you in part by my good friend Eric over at The Midnight Shift.
First, we'll need a bolter, or any spare guns you have that will look like the base for sniper rifle. After a year of purchasing SMs, I have more bolters than I know what to do with:

Bike Conversion
Last time I showed my Predator/Rhino conversion setup, but didn't really explain how I did it. So, until I purchase another Predator, that will have to suffice. For now, I decided I didn't want to buy 3 SM bikes with side cars and 3 without. So here's what I decided to do:

Predator/Rhino Conversion
After purchasing and building a Rhino, and shortly after purchasing a Predator - I was pleased to see how easy converting a Predator into a Rhino and vice versus would be with a tiny bit of work. So, I bought some magnets in bulk and went a little crazy with my Predator:
